We have to talk about Slaven
We play a back four and put one of our best midfielders in as a RB. We have a RB sitting on the bench.

We have a 20 year old Swiss International who is better than at least 2 our our midfield and the best he can hope for is a couple of minutes at the end of games.

We play our best marauding midfielder up front alone, after discovering, shock horror, he can't play at RB. We have two strikers on the bench, one of which cost us £20m and has just had a decent international tournament and scored a couple of goals and got some match fitness after a nasty injury.

Will Bilic ever learn from his mistakes or does he think he is Arsene Wenger and can keep doing this nonsense over and over is some sort of groundhog day shit?

And before the Bilic cock gobblers start cunting me off, I would like you to defend his approach answering the points above because dancing around for 90 minutes in a bobble hat might be alright for a drunken smurf but the manager of my football club needs footballing intelligence, flexibility and adaptability with passion.

Football management is so easy - why can't Slaven do it when so many on this site can...

Re: We have to talk about Slaven
I agree that kouyate shouldn't be at RB but at the moment that's the only place he can play as long as Noble is captain

Slaven would make life easier for himself making Reid captain and then he could try something different in midfield

ths isn't a 1307/Rodfarts personal attack on Noble, I just think for certain games we'd do better with a more physical presence alongside Obiang

Re: We have to talk about Slaven
Notice how nobody addressed your points Spandex.

I am in agreement with you, by the way.

You can also add his persistance with keeping Noble in the team despite his complete lack of performance all season (barring the odd game).

Kouyate and Obiang are the obvious no brainer choices for the two in midfield with Byram going in at right back. Odd that nearly a year on we still aren't playing with a right back and for whatever reason Slav just will not play Antonio in his preferred/most effective position at RM/RW.

Frustrating.

He was reacting to every tackle, sort the team out for Christ sake.

We showed industry. Effort and Team work.

We aren't in an ideal place right now but I have no complaints about the manager or the players.

Think you are being a bit of a prat to be honest Spandex.

Re: We have to talk about Slaven
This £20m striker you speak of has played about as many games in that role as Antonio has.

Kouyate is not a great midfielder and we're actually better off without him playing there.

My main issue with today was playing Lanzini out wide. The same as vs WBA the switch to putting him central at half time made a massive difference and he should have played there from the start.

Re: We have to talk about Slaven
I think Snodgrass was still recovering from his cold/bug and not 100%. I'd have rested him as he looked a not under the weather. I agree Lanzini was superb once he was back in the hole

Re: We have to talk about Slaven
about RB ive changed my mind - i think i'd like to see Byram given some games there, if he's never given time he wont progress. Kouyate cant be our best option forever ---- can he?

mattyolmes 1:14 Sun Feb 26
Re: We have to talk about Slaven
also agree about Lanzini in the midlle and Ayew to start - seems to play Antonio up front and risk Snodgrass, coulve left Snod on bench and played AYew

Re: We have to talk about Slaven
I can see why Bilic commands such fanatical support, he clearly does kick every ball and all that.

However his constant insistence on making the same mistakes over and over will be his undoing. I have often spoken that he may create an atmosphere of favourites. We have seen as much with the unexplainable omissions of Antonio, Obiang and now Ayew and Fernandes.

Playing Kouyate at RB not only gives us no effective RB cover but it robs us of one of our best midfielders.

I agree that Noble is no longer first choice in midfield and given we aren't going down or getting in Europe he needs to start playing the future there now. Even Bilic supporters must agree that Obiang and Kouyate in midfield is much better prospect than Noble being in there?

So I can understand why people like Bilic. What I don't understand is why these people like us to play a weaker team. I haven't heard a single person say 'I support Bilic constantly playing people out of position because it benefits the team because...(insert answer here)'

Maybe because there is no justification for such a position?

Someone needs to sit Bilic down, and give him a stick of chewing gum.

Re: We have to talk about Slaven
Lanzini in the middle is another mystifying decision.

He keeps setting the team up like this, it keeps failing and he has to sort it out mid game, which to his credit he often does. But the question why the FUCK does he keep doing it in the first place?!

Re: We have to talk about Slaven
His passion is nice and all that, but his lack of desire for promoting our youth players is something I don't like, and his inability to put our better players where they should be is worrying. Look at the fucking around with Antonio, and even more strange the complete inability to see Obiang's ability for a whole year. Best player in the squad and while 90% of us could see it, he was seemingly oblivious.

Yes we are all so good at spotting players.

Some fucking idiots on this site, the move to the stadium seems to have coincided with a large number of WHO members having lobotomies.
